Theatre and Performance

Picture
Ausform Platform of Performance.
I am interested in working with circus in physical theatre and continuing investigations into physical interaction with scenography. I like to make theatre that is madcap and magical, creates strong images with colours, objects and bodies, that is based on storytelling but not necessarily narrative, and that is emotionally engaging and most of all enjoyable. I'm also currently making some more reflective work combining aerial and physical theatre. I'm exploring  incorporating spoken word, objects and symbols with the aerial performance. I wish to create an intimate piece with a core narrative of  rediscovering the roots of our identity, the things that draw us back to ourselves and make us strong and vivid.

I would love to work with musicians and am looking for collaborators to create new projects with.

I come from a theatrical background and took to the stage and screen quite young. After years of youth theatre, I took a degree in devised and physical theatre at Dartington College of Arts. I took part in various work experience placements and personal projects and then joined the Dave Fish Theatre company, devising plays based on the works of Richard Foreman.

We performed at the Cheltenham Everyman, Bristol Old Vic's Mayfests, universities and festivals. We also had a wonderful engagement  providing interactive shows during half terms and holidays for the Empire and Commonwealth Museum.  The company disbanded but still collaborate occasionally on walkabout and cabaret performances.

Since training in aerial circus arts I have had the opportunity to work with Beautiful Creatures on a ten day run of Will O The Wisp, a multidisciplinary performance commissioned by Reading's South Street Arts Centre, and in Lina B Frank's Keepers of the King's Conscience which was selected for The Place's Resolution! season. I also regularly create character and walkabout acts for festivals and events.

In 2011 I undertook a year of professional development, taking part in as many workshops, classes, creative exchanges, conversations and projects as possible. You can read more about this in my news section and I'm always happy to hear from interested collaborators or peers.
